Group Programs
Equine Assisted Learning - Life skills development
Group programs are designed to develop and improve life skills. Each session focuses on a specific skill with obstacles that promote the natural use of that skill. Our sessions also include debriefing, journaling, a written session breakdown (for Parents/Teachers) and optional homework/tasks to further promote each life skill. Life skills learned include communication, problem-solving, self-advocacy, negotiation and many more. Participants will learn to work together to engage in and complete ground-work obstacles in Partners/Teams with their horse. There is no riding involved however Participants will learn basic horsemanship skills that are a foundation to working with horses. These programs are available to any age and are tailored to fit the development level of Participants. Groups that currently participate in these programs are Outreach/Private schools, Youth Groups, and Group homes.
Group participant feedback:
"I learned a lot about how I communicate, and don't communicate with others. The obstacles were impossible until we learned how to talk to each other."
"It's a fun activity to do with my roommates. I feel calm and in control of my life when I work with and lead the horses."
"I learned it's important to have boundaries, not just with horses but with people in my life too..."
"Princess (horse) taught me that I need to stand up for myself and say no when I feel uncomfortable."
"...before doing these programs I used to fight with my Teacher. Now if something comes up, my Teacher reminds me of things we learned with the horses and I don't get so mad."
